What Actually Happens During a Quick Care Visit, Start to Finish
If you've never done a telehealth visit before, it's normal to wonder what actually happens, especially when you're just trying to get through a sick day and don't want to guess at the process. Here's exactly how it works.
Before your visit
You book online, choosing a time that works, often same-day visits are available. You'll complete a short intake form beforehand, a few minutes on a secure portal covering your symptoms and relevant history, so I have context before we even connect.
During your visit
We meet by video at your scheduled time. I ask about your symptoms in detail, how long you've had them, what's changed, what you've already tried. For a lot of acute issues, sinus infections, UTIs, minor respiratory symptoms, the history and symptom pattern tell most of the story, and I'll ask follow-up questions to rule out anything that needs a different level of care.
What I can do during the visit
If appropriate, I can send a prescription electronically to your pharmacy of choice, right there during the visit. If labs are needed, I'll order them and explain exactly where you can go and what it'll cost before anything is sent. If your symptoms suggest something outside what's appropriate for telehealth, I'll tell you clearly and point you toward the right next step, urgent care, the ER, or your PCP, rather than trying to manage something that needs in-person evaluation.
After your visit
You leave with a clear plan, whatever that includes, medication, home care instructions, or a referral, and you can message me afterward if something isn't improving as expected.
What this is not
This isn't a replacement for your PCP or for emergency care. It's built for exactly what it sounds like: the stuff that needs attention now, but doesn't require a waiting room, a referral, or a day off work to handle.
What this means for you
Most Quick Care visits take fifteen to twenty minutes, start to finish, from wherever you already are. No driving, no waiting room, no guessing at what happens next.
